I pick by head and ears. I love houndy heads and nice long ears. I personally like blanket back or especially a black and tan. But you can't see what color they are getting up close and personal with a rabbit in heavy cover!

They need to have sufficient white on them to be seen in most seasonal covers, but color is not the deal-breaker for me by a long stretch. Talent and brains are everything.

i never really think about it.. i usually put them down and watch them move around.. usually just a gut feeling... so far it has worked for me... try not to analayze it too much... THINK LONG THINK WRONG...lol
You can always dye their hair whatever color you want if they suit ya.

The right pup will pick you !!! As for color I like "color" whether it be Lemon & White , Bluetick , mostly white , R&W , B&T , Redtick but if I could make due with a beautiful Tri Color bench champion with the right pedigree lol . I've found that I can't be really satisfied if the pup or dog isn't pretty in my eyes (I've sold nice hounds for this reason ) . After all this and the time comes they must stand up to the test . I prefer hunt to be the dogs best trait with consistancey and desire to be a companion running close behind . Oh well I just went from pup to dog but I'm sure you guys are use to me after this many years LOL .
If I get time I'll tell a story about a guy who came to pick up a pup here one time . OH MY GOODNESS !!! ( "Think long Think wrong" brought it to my memory )
Goodnight everyone aint beagles great
